Urban Decay Vice Lipstick: A Tale of Insanity.

Today was the day. 100 new lipstick colors from Urban Decay were released out into the wild. Do you know what I did today? I worked just about 12 hours between 2 different jobs and the second job was 7 hours of selling a different brand of makeup to cranky customers, but I STILL summoned the strength to make my way to Ulta to pick out my 1 out of 100 shade

So this happened:

Ok, so that’s not all of them, but it certainly is a lot. I felt like a leopard. Those poor Ulta employees. I feel your pain. I am your pain.

Oh, were you looking to find an organized blogger who labels each swatch? Send me a link to her blog, because I’m looking for that post too. I have no idea what colors I’m looking at. I can say, that some of my favorites were Ravenswood, Moshpit, and Zzz

Hey, here’s the display:

*Not the full 100. Certain stores have certain colors.

Here’s a close up of the section I favored:

*The display fixtures gross me out. It looks like chewed gum. Just sayin’

Now, there’s at least 65 colors to choose from in this store alone and what did I choose? The liptone tone. 🙄. That’s how I do.

My 1 of 100: Ravenswood

Couple things:

1. I’m exhausted.

2. I love how my “unboxing” photos are done in my car in the parking lot. I feel like a makeup junkie. Moments like this make me realize I have zero impulse control.

Some highlights:

I really like the cream and comfort matte finishes. The sheer finish is not so good. This lipstick is 17 bucks. That’s a good price for a luxury brand. I had a 10 dollar birthday coupon, so I scored this little guy for 7 bananas.

So far (the last two hours) I really like this. My lips look and feel full. I feel like Kylie Jenner, but with a lot less money and a lot more personality.

Till next time…

Oh, here is a link to an impressive blog post about these lipsticks. Check it out. http://www.temptalia.com/urban-decay-criminal-rejected-wrong-number-sheer-liar-ravenswood-vice-lipsticks-reviews-photos-swatches/

Makeover Time with My Niece-Nugget, Miss Sara

Even though my niece is 15, I still see her like this:

That was six years ago. This is her now:

Where has the time gone?

Tonight she went to her friend’s quinceñera and she asked me to do her makeup.

Here are some shots of the makeup up close:

As you can see, she has spectacular eyes (spectacular everything, really). So I did a brown smokey eye with burgundy and mocha tones. It’s a shame the burgundy isn’t registering, but it really made her green eyes pop.

I’d list all the makeup, but I lost track. 🙊 #BeautyBloggerOfTheYearRightHere

I will say that I used several palettes from Smashbox, Urban Decay, and Makeup Revolution. A little here and a little there. I can’t even tell you how many palettes I own, and they never get any use except the rare occasions I do makeovers outside of my usual job. So I am happy to do makeovers to justify my insatiable hunger for makeup palettes I will never use.

Anyway, she looked amah zah zing and I totally feel like a proud aunt; or as her and her brother call me, “Gigi”.

I’d like to note that although she is gorgeous, Sara is just as beautiful on the inside too – and she’s a wise-ass, like me.

😢 Brings a tear to my eye.

Ipsy May Glambag:The Contents of My Life

The print on this month’s glambag reads: Contents: My Life. Just like April’s Glambag it is absolutely adorable, right down to the cartoon lipstick next to the caption. While I love my makeup (it’s real, and it’s deep), lately my life is about grad school. That  is why I’ve included a book from one of my classes as a back drop to this picture. It’s the book that just came in the mail for my summer class which begins tomorrow. I should be reading it now, but 5 pages in and I need a break #AttentionSpanOfAGerbil. So let’s talk Glambag!

Just so freakinh cute. Let’s discuss contents, starting with what I love:

  1. Urban Decay Zero Lipliner: I already own this liner, and the new chubby version of it, but I’m happy to have another one. Plus it came with two sample glosses. I would have included them in the pic, but they are in one of my purses and I’m too lazy to find them. #Effort
  2. ItCosmetics CC Cream: Ooo, I love the idea of this, but it smells like a lemon cake. Not like that is a bad thing, but my skin hates fragrance. This may pop up in my June garage sale. I still loved receiving it because I know it has a high value.
  3. Briogeo Rosarco Milk: a leave in conditioner made with rosehip, argan, and coconut oil. It has a nice smell but it kinda weighs my hair down. Plus,  almost finished with the sample after 2 days. #NotCool #EnoughWithTheHashtags
  4. Klorane Eye Patches: I didn’t get around to using this yet but since my next week consists of starting summer semester while moving from one apartment to the other I am sure I could use the pampering.
  5. Pretty Eyes Eyeliner in Navy: Ugh. Enough with the navy! This goes for Ipsy AND Birchbox. Seriously, I don’t like Navy eyeliner. What’s wrong with brown or black? This liner is cheap anyway. Not a fan

So while the bag is adorable, it’s contents are just ok. I give it a 4 out of 5. It’s wayyyyy better than my May Birchbox, and for the record my Mad Men Birchbox sucked hard. Ipsy wins this month too.

Till next time…

Casual Gold Eye Look

I think I’m sharing this simply because it is freaking freezing in NJ and I really don’t want to venture outside yet. If you don’t live in this area, this is essentially a reference for the weather here:

Note: It’s more like a balmy 21 degrees. I made that a few weeks ago.

Anyway, I did this casual gold eye look and I thought I would share it.
Is it possible to wear gold casually?
Let’s see:

I think so. And it’s super easy too.
What I used:

Pacifica Shadow in Treasure from lash line to crease.
Pink Shade of Maybelline Color Molten Duo in Rose Haze in inner corner and under brow.
Urban Decay 24/7 Liner in Rockstar
Cynthia Rowley Gold liner traced just above Rockstar.
Lip Color: Manna Kadar Liplocked in Lucky.

I really recommend the Pacifica shadow. It was a surprise from Ipsy. Just gorgeous 😍

Till next time.

The Lipstick Project Day 7: Urban Decay Fiend

What an incredible name for a lipstick! It’s so fitting for a lipstick addict!
If I had to choose one lipstick that I would wear everyday for the rest of my life it would be this one. Ok, I need one more choice because I am a Gemini and we are indecisive and need at least two options for both twins.
This is a creamy, delightful, pigment rich gem from the people at Urban Decay. I can’t get enough of this color, and the Turn On 24/7 Lip Liner I’ve paired with it.

Let’s see!

Favorite. Color. Ever.
I purchased the liner and lipstick during the November sales at Ulta and Sephora. I got them both for 20% off. I like to note this, because they are pricey and I have some rules for buying luxury brands:

💋 Buy when they are on sale.
💋 Buy when you can earn extra points.
💋 Buy if there is a gift.

That last rule is going to irritate my fellow makeup artist friends who work in gift lines. What’s funny is, I work in a gift line, but I totally understand the customer perspective. You want to make sure you are getting your money’s worth.
The liner was purchased first at Sephora, and it is the prettiest mauve lip tone. Next came the lipstick at Ulta. I had the option of buying the Turn On Lipstick which coordinated with the liner, but I liked this combo instead.
Finally, the lip-butter is from Pacifica. They sell that in Target and online. This is a lip butter filled with ingredients like coconut oil and olive extract.
So good for you.

On a side note...
School started yesterday. I’m a full time grad student this semester! More work, less play. Which is not a bad thing. I put this out there in case my posts slow down. If I think about following this little experiment to its conclusion, my head wants to explode.
Look how many lipsticks, lip stains, and chubby crayons that I have...

That’s an edited pile, by the way. I decided to eliminate anything I’ve already reviewed in the past and gratis products that I don’t care for.

If I follow through with this, I will have at least three more months of this.

Till next time…

Procrastination Makeover: Urban Decay Smoked Palette

Oh my God! Tomorrow is NYE and my boyfriend and his sister are coming to my apartment!
Do I:
A. Clean the place up?
B. Procrastinate by playing with makeup?

Yup. That happened.

Let’s discuss!

On muh face right now:

💋Urban Decay Smoked Palette
💋Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Pencil in Perversion (That came with the palette)
💋NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in San Paulo
💋Bobbi Brown Eye Brightener in Light to Medium Peach.

I got the Smoked Palette during the Sephora 20% off sale in November.
It was already marked down, so by the time I got it it was just about $23.00.
Now I’ve seen it advertised in Ulta online for about $20.00.
If they still have that offer, take it and never let it go…

Let’s swatch the shades I used:

Top to Bottom:
💋Asphalt (Lower Lash)
💋Loaded (Lid)
💋Evidence (Crease/Outer V)
💋Freestyle (Blending Shade)
💋Kinky (Inner Corner/Under Brow

With the very first swipe of Loaded, I was reminded why Urban Decay shadows rule the school…

My favorite shade is actually Freestyle. It is a perfect matte peach. I could wear it everyday.

Why the smirk? Because these shadows are so badass, I can’t take myself seriously.
That’s why my favorite is the matte nudey-peach.
Because I’m lame, and proud.

Before we go, let’s discuss the lip color…
This NYX Lip Cream in San Paulo is a bright, cheery, pinky-red. I actually like the look of just the lip without eyeshadow.

That’s my happy place.

Time to finish washing this stuff off and get crackin on the cleaning!

The Semester is Over! Let’s Get Naked!: Review of Urban Decay Naked On The Run Palette

I remember getting my first Urban Decay palette back when I was a junior in my undergrad studies. This was sometime in 1999/2000 I believe. Oh by the way, I’m old. Let’s just get that out of the way. Anyway, I had never seen anything like Urban Decay makeup. Glittery and beautiful eyeshadows that deposited full color with one single swipe of the eyeshadow brush. And those sticky delightful gloss squares that came with the palette! I was in love 😍.
Now that I just completed my first semester of grad school, I thought it would be a nice trip down memory lane to save this review for a day like today. Yes, I’m sure you’ve seen a gazillion postings on this palette. I know, I know, I’m late to the party. But I actually picked this up for me and someone else the first night it came out. I’ve just been waiting for school to be done.
Let’s take a quick moment to celebrate that:

I know Oprah, I’m super stoked too! But unfortunately you will all not get cars or cashmere sweaters. You WILL however get the 4,599,8888 review of
Let’s discuss…

I love all in one palettes and this does not disappoint. You get five shadows, one highlighter, bronzer, blush, eyeliner AND mascara. Wowza.
Let’s take a photo journey, shall we?

First I started with a new foundation:
💋 Maybelline Fit Me Matte+Poreless in 125. This is a new foundation for normal to oily skin. The color is kind of a perfect match. It covers quite a bit yet it didn’t get my newest BOTW (blemish of the week), so I applied more concealer on that spot. I can’t provide a full review because I have to see what happens with my skin. I can say it covers well but it smells like a vodka martini. Alcohol anyone?
💋 Then some Prep and Prime in Bright Forecast by MAC
💋 Followed by MAC Matchmaster Concealer in 1.5

Now on to the eyeshadows…
Everyone has their favorite shadows in a palette. You could utilize all of these at once just to prove you are amazing, but I chose to favor
3 plus the highlighter.
💋 Dive (pink shimmer) on the lid
💋 Dare (dark brown matte) in crease
💋 Stun (bronze shimmer) under the lower lash line
💋 50/50 (highlighter) under the brow, over my brow, inner and outer eye area.
💋 I utilized the liner, Stag, above the lash line and in the lower waterline.

Picture time!

Let’s do some Pros and Cons…

💋 Pretty shadow selection. Neutrals but hardly boring. I love the pink shade the most.
💋 Urban Decay eyeliners rock. If you don’t know, now you know. They last a long time and they glide onto the eyelid with ease. This is a cool, lighter than black but sort of black/brown/purple concoction.
💋 LOVE the bronzer and blush. I would consider purchasing these on their own.
💋 The gloss is light, but pretty. It catches the light nicely.

💋 Perversion Mascara. Not a fan. I had high hopes, but I find it dry and I really had to pack it on to get some lash going. I don’t have barely there lashes so this was a little weird to me.
💋 Clunky clunky clunky. I’m not sure if there was a better way to package this but unfortunately this is going to be too big for your purse.

All in all, this is a nice palette and makes for a great gift. Someone in my life will be getting one and hopefully she will enjoy it too! Blog post over, time to wash my face.
